Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki on Wednesday swear-in Air Vice Marshal Isaac Alfa as senator representing Kogi East senatorial District.
This followed the Federal High Court order of 21st February directing the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki to immediately swear in Alfa (rtd) as the winner of the 2015 Kogi East Senatorial seat.
Recall that the Supreme Court had on January 23 upheld the judgement of a Federal High Court of June 13, 2018 ordering Senator Atai Aidoko Ali Usman to vacate the Kogi East Senatorial District seat.
Justice Anwuli Chikere struck out the application by Senator Aidoko seeking for a review of the earlier judgement.
Justice Chikere ruled that the application to review a matter already decided by the Supreme Court was “an abuse of court process, incompetent and amounts to legal rascality.”
Sundiata Post recalls that Justice Gabriel Kolawole had in 2018 held that the results of the primary of November 7, 2014 in Idah, Kogi State, which produced Aidoko Ali Usman after the disruption of the venue with gun shots while Alfa was leading the polls, lacked credibility and integrity.
He ordered the Clerk of the National Assembly to make arrangement for the immediate swearing in of Alfa with the payment of all his entitlements and benefits.
