Kebbi agency intensifies fight against child killer diseases

Birnin Kebbi  – The Kebbi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (KPHDA) on Wednesday said it would intensify the fight against child killer diseases in rural areas.

KPHDA’s Acting Chairman, Alhaji Farouk Wakili, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi that enlightenment campaign and routine immunisation would be increased against measles, polio and meningitis.

He said “the agency will also improve campaign and cure of malnutrition.”

He added that the agency would fight against the spread of HIV and AIDS that recorded a prevalence of 0.1 per
cent recently.

The acting chairman lauded the efforts of the state government, traditional rulers, Non-Governmental Organisations
and development partners for sustaining the anti-polio campaign.

According to him, the agency will partner with agencies like the Rotary Club to facilitate and sustain corrective surgeries
on our polio victims.

NAN reports that the state government, in collaboration with Rotary Club international, conducted corrective surgeries
on 86 polio victims last year. (NAN)
