Abuja (Sundiata Post) – General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E. A Adeboye has finally broken his silence and replied critics on what he has done about the killings of innocent Nigerians across the country.
Responding to those who have accused him of being silent on the issue, Adeboye said:“I am a Christian and I belong to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) which has a President.
“So whatever the President says is what I say. I am also a Pentecostal and I belong to the Pentecostal Association of Nigeria.
“So whatever the President says is what I say. That is how to be under authority,” he said.
Pastor Adeboye who used the occasion of the February 2018 Holy Ghost Service tagged: “Stronger Than Your Enemies –Part 2” which took place at Redemption camp to put his reply to his critics, also stated that the kidnapping and loss of lives was saddening.
He therefore called on the authorities to nip the crisis in the bud. Leading the congregation which included Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo in prayer, Pastor Adeboye asked the congregation to pray that God should expose those shedding blood and their sponsors.
Recall that some reservations have been expressed in some quarters that majority of those who are supposed to frown and condemn the needless killings going on across the country are maintaining sealed lips.
Sundiata Post recalls that former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode who took to his twitter handle @ realFFK on January 15, 2018, commended Prophet T. B Joshua , Bishop Oyedepo, Apostle Suleiman, Pastor Enenche, Bishop El Buba and others for speaking out against what he called the evil of bloodthirsty and genocidal fulani terrorist right from the start. Adding that God will reward them.
Fani-Kayode tweeted thus:
“I commend Prophet T.B. Joshua, Bishop Oyedepo, Apostle Suleiman, Pastor Enenche, Bishop El Buba and others for speaking out against the evil of the bloodthirsty and genocidal Fulani terrorists right from the start whilst others sat on the fence and remained silent. God will reward u.”
He made the declaration shortly after 73 people were reportedly killed during alleged attack by Fulani herdsmen on villagers and farmers at Guma and Logo local government area of Benue state. They were buried on a site at the Industrial Layout along Naka Road in Makurdi on January 11, 2018.
Sundiata Post further recalls that just recently, the “vocal” Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, in his article titled: “President Olusegun Obasanjo and his love letter to Buhari” eulogized Obasanjo, others who picked courage to speak truth to power and called on those he alleged have been hiding under their bed out of fear of President Buhari to follow the Ebora’s (Obasanjo’s) lead and find their voice.
Penultimate week, Obasanjo had in his damning letter to Buhari admonished him to disembark from the horse of leadership on account of abysmal performance and not to bother opting for re-election in 2019, but to honourably retreat to Daura where he will be offering side-line advice like other past leaders.
In the article, Fani Kayode said:
“I am delighted and indeed proud of what the Ebora Owu has done and I commend and congratulate him for finding the courage to say what those of us that have been at the forefront of the struggle against President Buhari have been saying for the last three years. “My friend and brother Governor Peter ‘The Rock’ Ayodele Fayose gallantly led the charge and said it. Pastor Reno Omokri said it. Dr. Reuben Abati said it. Professor Abubakar Sulaiman said it. Col. Abubakar ‘Dangiwa’ Umar said it. Governor Nyesom Wike said it. Senator Ben Murray-Bruce said it. Mujaheed Asari Dokubo said it. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu said it. Yours truly said it. And a number of others said it. And each and every one of us that did, in varying degrees, have faced all manner of insults and threats and have paid a heavy price for doing so.
“Yet we have no regrets because no matter what happens tomorrow, posterity will judge us kindly and history will recall that, when it mattered the most, we stood for the people, for the truth, for justice and for equity and we resisted and opposed racism, ethnic hegemony, religious bigotry, naked tyranny, oppression, mass murder, genocide, ethnic cleansing and the relentless attempt to subjugate and enslave our compatriots and our nation.
“Let us hope that thousands of others that have hitherto been hiding under their beds out of fear of Buhari will follow the Ebora’s lead and find their voice”.
