Ex-Ghana coach, Kwesi Appiah has expressed confidence in Maxwell Konadu to handle the national team.
Appiah was sacked a fortnight ago despite a decent start to the Afcon 2015 qualifiers, but speaking at Ghana’s ongoing Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the World Cup debacle, the 54 year old was clear in his endorsement of his former assistant.
“He is proven his potential, he took Kotoko to win the [Ghana Premier] league and I also went with him as assistant to win All Africa Games gold as well as working as my assistant for the past two years with the Black Stars. [eap_ad_2]
“I personally believe that given the chance, he can do a very good job,” Appiah insisted.
Appiah worked with Konadu with Ghana’s Olympic team that won a historic gold medal at the 2011 All Africa Games in Mozambique, the country’s first in 56 years.
The Ghana FA has already confirmed Konadu as caretaker coach for the Stars double header with Guinea in October.
On rumours about a stand-off between himself and Konadu, Appiah was quick to laughed if off.
“We worked for two years (Black Stars) and I never had any problem with him. We also worked together with the Black Meteors and we won gold in Maputo, never did we have any misunderstanding with each other,” Kwesi Appiah explained. (supersport.com) [eap_ad_3]
