KATSINA – No fewer than 3.8 million long lasting insecticide treated mosquito nets would be distributed freely to the people of Katsina State to fight malaria.
The commissioner for Health, Alhaji Mannir Talba made the disclosure on Friday in Katsina during a meeting with members of the committee charged with the distribution of the nets.
He said that each household across the 34 local government areas of the state was expected to get one mosquito net supplied under the Federal Government Malaria Control Programme.
He urged members of the committee to ensure justice in their assignment and warned them against diverting the nets.
Talba said the state government spent millions of naira annually on the purchase of anti-malaria drugs which were distributed to people freely.
He said the government also fumigate mosquito breeding places and evacuate drainages as part of measures to eradicate malaria. (NAN)
