Kwankwaso pledges full implementation of report on collapsed bridge

KANO – Gov. Rabi’ Kwankwaso of Kano has full implementation of the recommendations of the committee set to investigate the recent collapse of a pedestrian bridge in Kano metropolis.

He made the pledge while receiving the report of the committee on Wednesday in Kano.

The governor was represented at the occasion by the Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Alhaji Abba Yusuf.

Kwankwaso said implementing the committee’ recommendations was necessary in order to avoid similar incident in future and possible loss of lives and property.

‘’The report will be scrutinised thoroughly and the recommendations will be fully implemented.

‘’It was based on the concern of the government that the committee was set to investigate the cause of the incident,’’ he said.

According to him, the government would continue to essential services to the of the until the expiration of its tenure on May 29.

He prayed for the repose of the soul of those who lost their lives during the incident and the speedy recovery of the .

Earlier, the of the committee, Mr Usman Sadiq, blamed the collapse of the bridge on “professional negligence’’.

According to him, the contractor was responsible for the cause of the accident and should therefore be made to pay compensation to the families of the deceased.(NAN).
