KANO – Gov. Rabi’u Kwankwaso of Kano State has promised full implementation of the recommendations of the committee set up to investigate the recent collapse of a pedestrian bridge in Kano metropolis.
He made the pledge while receiving the report of the committee on Wednesday in Kano.
The governor was represented at the occasion by the Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Alhaji Abba Yusuf.
‘’The report will be scrutinised thoroughly and the recommendations will be fully implemented.
‘’It was based on the concern of the government that the committee was set up to investigate the cause of the incident,’’ he said.
He prayed for the repose of the soul of those who lost their lives during the incident and the speedy recovery of the injured.
Earlier, the Chairman of the committee, Mr Usman Sadiq, blamed the collapse of the bridge on “professional negligence’’.
According to him, the contractor was responsible for the cause of the accident and should therefore be made to pay compensation to the families of the deceased.(NAN).
