Ilorin – Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara has announced his administration’s readiness of to conduct staff audit with a view to fishing out ghost workers in the State.
The governor disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting with leaders and supporters of All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ilorin on Monday
He said there was strong indication that some workers were receiving multiple salaries which make it impossible for Local Government Councils and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), to pay salaries regularly.
Ahmed stated that the exercise would involve verification of the staff in public/civil service, basic level teachers, local government workers and pensioners.
He disclosed that the government was already collaborating with banks to use the Biometric Verification Number (BVN), to detect those collecting multiple salaries.
The governor revealed that the new Internally Generated Revenue drive was yielding positive results and assured workers that all outstanding salaries would be cleared before the end of March.

Ahmed said discussion with the Security and Exchange Commission, Debt Management Office and the Federal Ministry of Finance had reached advanced stage in order to access the proposed N20 billion bonds for capital projects.
He assured the people that his government would continue to meet its obligations despite the prevailing economic situation in the country.
Chairman of APC in the state, Alhaji Ishola Balogun-Fulani commended Ahmed for his commitment to improving the standard of living of the people.
Balogun-Fulani appealed to APC supporters to continue to support the present administration and protect public installations across the state from being vandalised. (NAN)
