Lagos – Chief Magistrate Alexander Komolafe of an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Friday granted an accused, Akinola Akinpelu, N250,000 bail.
The accused, an architect who resides at 44 Olaniran Str., Ayobo, Ipaja, a Lagos suburb, is facing three-count charge of fraud, forgery and false representation.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Joseph Ajebe, told the court that the accused committed the offences between Dec. 2014 and Feb. 2016 at No. 10, Alhaji Wosilat Str., Oluwaga Road, Baruwa, Ipaja, Lagos.
Ajebe said that the accused fraudulently obtained N393,000 from one Mr Alabi Abiodun, the complainant, for the purpose of surveying two acres of land for him at Ota Road in Ogun State.
The prosecutor alleged that the complainant later discovered that the survey plan was forged when he presented it at the office of Surveyor General Land and Registry in Abeokuta, Ogun.
He said that the accused, who allegedly falsely presented himself as L.A Animashaun, a licenced surveyor of L.A Animashaun Surcon Property, forged the survey plan and used Animashaun’s seal without his consent.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 312, 363, and 378 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Magistrate Komolafe, however, granted the accused bail with two sureties each in like sum.
Komolafe ruled that the sureties must be civil servants on grade level 12 with the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case to Feb. 13 for mention.
