Bwari (FCT) – Mr Peter Yohanna, Chairman of Bwari Area Council of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been summoned by the council’s Legislature to appear before it on Aug. 4.
The invitation is contained in a statement signed by the Clerk of the Legislature, Mr Danlami Kuara, and given to journalists in Bwari on Tuesday.
The statement, which accused the chairman of gross misconduct, abuse of office and misuse of funds, said he could face impeachment if he ignored the invitation.
It reminded the chairman of disregarding previous summons.
According to the statement, “Yohanna has constantly refused to heed our previous summons to answer allegations about some issues.
“It is on record that the legislative council has at various times summoned you to appear before it to answer allegations of gross misconduct, abuse of office and misappropriation of funds, which you neglected.
“You failed to appear before the Legislature on June 9, June 19, July 8 and July 15 respectively’’, added the statement.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
It further urged the chairman to come along with relevant details on how he had been implementing the council’s budgets and how he administered Sure-P funds and other statutory allocations.
The statement said the chairman would also account to the legislature his failure to provide them with a bus and why he lived above his income. (NAN)
