Dutse – The Jahun Local Government Council of Jigawa on Thursday said it had purchased spare parts worth N2.8 million to repair broken and damaged hand pumps in the area.
The Area’s Information Officer, Malam Muhammad Umar, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse.
Umar, who said the items had been handed over to the 11 wards of the local government, noted that the aim was to ensure safe drinking water in the area.

He said that the items were handed over to members of wards committees who would supervise the exercise.
The spokesman who said that the Secretary of the council, Alhaji Muhammad Nasir, distributed the items, and pledged the council’s commitment to providing social amenities to the people at the grassroots.
Umar said the scribe further charged the wards committee members to be fair and just in repairing the hand pumps. (NAN)
