Kiyawa (Jigawa) – The Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa says it will distribute 5,000 pieces of exercise books to primary school pupils in the area.
Alhaji Isyaku Adamu, the Chairman of the Council, made this known to newsmen in Kiyawa on Thursday.
Adamu said the gesture was part of the council’s efforts at improving education at the grassroots.
He explained that it was also to enhance the level of literacy of citizens, particularly those in rural areas.
The chairman added it has also distributed 1,000 sets of two-seater furniture to 113 junior and primary schools in the area, noting that the gesture was to address shortage of seats in the schools.
Adamu urged parents to ensure that they enroll their children in schools to complement the council’s efforts. (NAN)
