The National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure, expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the September governorship election in Edo State.
Speaking during a solidarity visit by youths to the Party Secretariat in Abuja, Abure highlighted the strength of the party’s candidate, Olumide Akpata, and the transparent process of the party’s primaries in Edo State.
Represented by LP National Youth Leader Kennedy Ahanotu, Abure emphasized the party’s readiness to claim victory in Edo State, citing the positive outcome of the primaries that led to Akpata’s emergence as the candidate.
Encouraging unity among party supporters ahead of the 2027 general election, Abure reaffirmed the LP’s commitment to regaining political relevance in Nigeria. He called on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to focus on delivering tangible benefits to Nigerians rather than attempting to stifle opposition voices.
Abure urged the ruling party to prioritize addressing the needs of the Nigerian populace, emphasizing the importance of providing essential democratic dividends to alleviate the grievances of the citizens. He cautioned against attempts to undermine the LP’s leadership, urging the APC to redirect its efforts towards governance and service delivery.
