Sango-Ota(Ogun) – A 34-year-old man, Sunday Gbeleyi, was on Wednesday charged before an Ota Magistrates Court in Ogun for alleged breach of peace.
The accused, who lives at No. 28 Farinto Street, Iyana-Iyesi, Ota, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and breach of peace.
The Prosecutor, Cpl.Tsav Dominic , told the court that the accused and others still at large committed the offences on Oct. 16 about 2.00 p. m at ilasa Village.
Dominic said that the accused and his accomplices conspired to conduct themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by canvassing and taking prospective buyers to a plot of land that was under dispute.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 249 and 516 of the Criminal Code Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Senior Magistrate, Mrs Adebayo Alebiosu, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said that the sureties must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and should be gainfully employed.
Alebiosu also ordered that the sureties should swear to affidavit of means and produce evidence of tax payment from Ogun Government.
In addition, the sureties should submit four recent passport photographs to the court and his address should be verified by the police.
The case was adjourned till Jan. 4 for hearing.
