Man, 37, docked for allegedly stealing bus worth N1.4m

Sango-Ota – A 37-year-old man, Bolaji Omo-akin, was on Tuesday brought before an Ota Magistrates ‘ Court for allegedly stealing a bus valued at N1.4 million that was kept in his custody.

Omo-akin, who lives at No. 16 Talabi St., Atan, Ota, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.

The Prosecutor, Sgt Chudu Gbesi, told the court that the defendant and others still at large, committed the offences on Feb. 11, at Atan, Ota.

Gbesi said that the accused and his accomplices conspired and stole a bus valued N1.4 million, kept in his custody for a commercial purpose.

He said that the bus belongs to the complainant, Fatai Adisa.

“The accused and his accomplices planned among themselves to steal the vehicle in his possession and lied to the complainant that the bus was stolen by unknown person, ‘’ Gbesi said.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 390 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mr S. S. Shotayo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Shotayo said that the sureties should reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.

The case was adjourned until Feb. 28, for further hearing.
