Sango-Ota – A 48-year-old man, Femi Amos, was on Friday charged before an Ota Senior Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly stealing valuables worth N77, 500.
Amos, of no fixed address, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and burglary.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Dec. 24, 2017, at about 12.00p.m. at No. 36, Favour of God Area, Iyana-Iyesi, Ota.
Gbesi said that the accused unlawfully entered the house of one Doyin Ajayi, and stole a flat screen television valued at N55,000, and a camera worth N22,000.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 383(1)(2) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr G. E. Akan, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.
He said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed.
Akan also said that the sureties should show evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government and their addresses should be verified by the police.
The case was adjourned until April 9, for hearing.
