Osogbo – A 50-year-old man, Ismaila Akinsumbo, was on Monday taken to an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court over alleged contempt.
The Prosecutor, Insp Ogundele Banjo, told the court that the accused committed the offense on April 25, at about 9:00am at the Osogbo Magistrates’ Court, Osogbo .
Banjo alleged that the accused refused to appear before the said court where he was being tried for an alleged fraud in case nos. MOS/831c/2013.
He told the court that it was with the assistance of Police intelligence report that the accused was re-arrested.
Banjo said the offence committed contravened Sections 133(2) and 126(2)of the criminal code cap 34 vol.11 laws of Osun, 2003.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Pius Jones prayed the Magistrate to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko granted the accused person bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in like sum.
Aluko said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should show evidence of tax payment to the court’s registrar.
The magistrate adjourned the case to Sept.30 for hearing.
