Balaclava (Mauritius) – Mauritian Finance Minister, Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo said on Tuesday that the government would facilitate the creation of a technology park in Accra according to
Lutchmeenaraidoo said this at a one-day business meeting between Mauritian investors and their Ghanaian counterparts currently visiting Mauritius as part of the delegation of Ghanaian President John Mahama.

No fewer than 150 Mauritian business people attended the meeting that was witnessed by Mahama.

The minister told the gathering that ‘neither Africa nor Ghana is an option but a necessity’.

“’If there is one country in Africa that attracts me in terms of investments, it is Ghana. Like Mauritius, Ghana is a democratic state where there is the rule of law,” he said.

Lutchmeenaraidoo said he would lead a delegation of 40 Mauritian business people to Ghana in November.

At a banquet on Monday in honour of the visiting delegation, Mauritian Prime Minister, Anerood Jugnauth, said Mauritius ad Ghana shared the same vision and commitment to creating a strong and prosperous Africa.

“Both our countries share values emanating from the common belief of our people in democracy, respect for the rule of law, human rights and good governance, strong and impartial institutions.

“’We are also committed to ensuring that economic growth is balanced through the equitable distribution of resources to ensure social harmony,” he said.

Jugnauth told Mahama that ”our natural resources may be limited, but we can offer our soft infrastructure, a bilingual, adaptable and educated workforce.
“We can offer our experience in the services sector and in particular the financial sector, as well as our emerging educational and knowledge hub”.

Mahama said he was inspired by the economic transformation taking place in Mauritius.

“’We believe that working with you we can create the same economic transformation in Ghana,” he said.

Mahama and his delegation are due to return home on Wednesday. (PANA/NAN)
