Ilutitun (Ondo State)- Oba Isaac Idepefo, the Majuwa of Moribodo Kingdom in Ilutitun, Ondo State, on Sunday advised Nigerian politicians to shun the politics of bitterness, saying that it only gives “cheap popularity”.
Oba Idepefo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilutitun that the politicians should learn from their counterparts in the advanced countries, where electioneering was devoid of rancour, hooliganism, thuggery, violence and abuse of power.
According to him, Nigerian politicians have taken politics as a dirty game in which violence, hooliganism, thuggery and character assassination is the order of the day.

“Politics is about telling the masses what you can do for them and ensuring that all the electioneering pledges are fulfilled thereafter, not by digging into the past or personal issues of your opponents.
“If they do not know how to do politics, I think they should learn from the politicians in the advanced countries, so that they can modify the way they play politics,’’ he said.
Oba Idepefo said that his community would never be part of dirty politics but would only vote credible candidates who are faithful and ready to fulfil their promises to the people.
He warned youths in the state against fomenting trouble in the forthcoming elections, saying that no politician would rescue them if the Police arrested them. (NAN)
