Usoro told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos after clinching two gold medals and one silver that she had been dreaming of doing so since she was nine years old.
“I have been dreaming of representing my country one day and I hope that 2016 will be my year to show to the world that I am talented,” the 17-year-old student said.
Usoro, a student of National College, Gbagada, returned at 12.00 seconds in the 100m event at the Ibile games.
Uruemu Adu, the personal coach of Usoro, said that he would work on her acceleration to improve her time in subsequent competitions.
“I have noticed some areas which I think need improvement and we will work on them, especially in her acceleration, because she is an athlete who wants to improve and is focused,” he said.
Adu, also the head Coach of Lagos State Athletics grassroots sports, said he was happy with the time Usoro recorded, but she could do better. (NAN)
