Lagos – Mrs Angela Nwangwa, winner of the first ever Mother and Daughter Pageant Nigeria (MDPN), organised by Silverbird, has advised mothers to take advantage of their resourcefulness to uplift their living standards.

Nwangwa, who won the pageant alongside her daughter, Gift, in October, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday that she had fulfilled her personal dreams because she had always strived to improve herself

She advised women against idleness, saying that it was not the right attitude for them.

“Honestly, mothers should sit up; there is no limitation to what you can do except you are sitting down there looking at your limitations.

“You just have to try and mingle with others; move out a little bit; source for information, because they say if you are not informed, you are kind of deformed.

“Look out for information that will help you in life.

“So, if you believe in yourself mothers, you just have to sit up, get informed and start putting them into practice and you will see that so many things will come to practical fulfilment in your life.

“And definitely status will change.’’

As winners of the pageant, Nwangwa, a Lagos-based businesswoman, and her daughter received a cash prize of two million naira and won a trip to Dubai.

NAN reports that the Mother and Daughter Pageant Nigeria is the first of its kind in West Africa.

It is a Silverbird Production initiative aimed at promoting family values by celebrating the love and bond shared between mother and child.

The concept was birthed to become a platform to reckon with in family entertainment whilst promoting and strengthening family bonds.

The pageant gives Nigerian mothers and young daughters the opportunity to celebrate womanhood. (NAN)
