Abuja (Sundiata Post) — The wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has been honoured by the women in the Aso Villa Chapel, describing her as true mother of the nation.
She was honoured at the Sunday Service to mark the 2017 Mother’s Day at the Aso Villa Chapel.
The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, and his wife, Dolapo, were also in attendance.
The Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Deaconess Joan Ayo, on behalf of the women, commended Mrs. Buhari’s support for her husband in building a virile nation.
“She is a mother and the mother of the nation and she has demonstrated that in so many ways,” she said.
The Civil Service Commission boss, disclosed that recently when the women in the church visited Mrs. Buhari to congratulated on her birthday, she was not in a joyous mood probably occasioned by her husband’s ill health, adding that her jou was rekindled when her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in the country hale and hearty.
“Now we want to use this opportunity to celebrate her,” Ayo said.
The wife of the President, who was represented by Mrs. Grace Chamah, was, therefore, presented a portrait depicting the role of a mother in the upbringing of a child.
In her sermon, the wife of the Vice President, Pastor (Mrs.) Osinbajo, urged mothers in the country to teach their children good virtues.
Speaking from the book of Proverb 31: 1-10 and Judges 4:4-9, Mrs. Osinbajo charged them to be good women.
“The key thing in motherhood is the children. We need to teach our children the right way. Man shall not live by bread alone; so mothers need to teach our children spiritual things,” she said.
Citing Mark 6:12-28, the wife of the Vice President acknowledged that not all mothers are good and godly.
According to her, King Herod’s wife was a bad representation of motherhood in the Bible.
“She is anti-human, anti-gospel and anti-Christ,” she said.
She, however, enjoined mothers to strive to be a role model by exhibiting the attributes of a Christian mother.
According to her, the life of Deborah in the Bible should be a great lesson for women looking at Judges 5:6-7.
“This is the kind of mothers we need today. She is a woman of great strength. There is a call today for Nigerian mothers to arise. Deborah arose for her people then.
“Mothers, it is a day for celebration and it is also a day to remember our calling. A day to remember what the Lord requires of us,” she urged.
The Chaplain of the Villa Chapel, Pastor Seyi Malomo, described mothers as “a special creature made from the refined product.”
He congratulated all mothers on the celebration.
Special gifts were given to the wife and mother of the Vice President; the wife of the Chaplain, Mrs. Obiageli Malomo; wife of the church’s administrator, Mrs. Tina Ambi, among others.
