Ibadan – The wife of the Oyo State Governor, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, on Sunday in Ibadan, gave cash and gifts to two babies born in Ibadan on Christmas day to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the distribution of gifts to babies born on Christmas and New Year day is an annual programme by the governor’s wife.
Represented by Mrs Foluso Sali, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Ajimobi said that the act symbolised the teachings of the season.
She added that the lesson of the birth of Jesus Christ was for humility, love and peaceful co-existence and urged the people to always be their brother’s keepers.
She urged the people to imbibe the virtues of Jesus Christ through giving, sacrifices, humility and love sharing.
NAN reports that the two female babies were delivered at the Catholic Hospital,Orita-Meffa, Oluyoro in the metropolis.
The first baby was born to the family of Mr and Mrs Adedotun Ajibare at 5.30 a.m. and weighed 2.8kg
The second baby of 2.6kg weight born to Mrs Bukola Laigwu was born at 6.05 a.m. at
same hospital.
The governor’s wife, who was received at the hospital by Supervisor, Mrs Ibeh Beatrice,
and conducted round the children’s ward, prayed for the babies and handed over the gifts to the parents.
In their reactions, the Ajibares and the Liagwus thanked the wife of the governor, and prayed that God would continue to be with her and the family.
