Nasarawa: Commission warns staff against truancy

LAFIA – Mr Ishaku Abari, Permanent Secretary, Nasarawa State Local Government Service Commission, has warned council workers against truancy and nonchalant attitude to work.

Abari gave the warning in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia on Friday.

He said the commission was committed to ensuring that the culture of discipline was entrenched in the local government system.

For this, he said, the commission had concluded arrangement to pay unscheduled visits to the 13 Local Government Areas of the state to check absenteeism and truancy among members of staff for quality service delivery.

“The action becomes necessary following series of complaints from the general public concerning local government workers’ attitude to work, as well as high rate of truancy and lateness to duties. [eap_ad_2] “The commission has received series of complaints from the general public concerning poor attitude to work, high rate of truancy, absenteeism and lateness by members of staff.

“I want to warn those members of staff involved in absenteeism, lateness to work, truancy and other fraudulent activities, to either desist or the commission will take appropriate measures against them’’, he said.

According to him, the commission will not fold its arms and watch the local government workers sabotaging the efforts to develop the state.

He called on the people to live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation for the overall development of the country (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
