Lafia – The Nasarawa State Government has released the White paper on the reports of the panels constituted to investigate the activities of three state-owned tertiary institutions.
The White Paper is coming six months after the panels submitted their reports.
The state Commissioner of Education, Aliyu Tijjani, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lafia.
Tijjani said that Gov. Umaru Al-Makura had informed the State Executive Council at their meeting on June 26 of the release of the White Paper.
He said that as part of steps to implement the recommendations in the reports, plans were ongoing to constitute the governing boards of the affected institutions.
“When the boards are appointed, they would be given the mandate to implement all the recommendations in the reports.
“The implementation of the reports would go a long way towards repositioning the institutions for better service delivery.”
The commissioner further said that the government would do everything possible to restructure the tertiary institutions in the state.
NAN reports that Al-Makura on Nov. 2, 2017, set up three panels to investigate the activities of state-owned tertiary institutions from 2014 to 2017.
The panels, which investigated College of Education, Akwanga; Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia, and College of Agriculture, Lafia, submitted their reports to the government on Jan. 19, 2018.
