Abuja – The national female cricket team on Monday in Abuja resumed camping ahead of a four-nation international championship in Tanzania.
President, Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), Emeka Onyeama, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that it was going to be Nigeria’s first time to participate in the championship.
“This championship is an attempt to revive the female department in cricket. We want to expose the girls by letting them compete with their counterparts.
“After participating in an African Championship in Uganda in 2013, they have not really participated in any other international championship.
“So, it is going to be a wonderful experience for them and we will do everything within our powers to ensure that they are successful in the event,’’ Onyeama said.
He said 23 cricketers were expected in the Abuja camp while the best 14 would be selected to represent the country at the championship.
