Dutse – The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Jigawa on Wednesday said it had concluded arrangements to train 170 youths in various income generating trades in the state.
Mr Muhammad Sambo, the NDE Coordinator in the state, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse.
Sambo said the training would be conducted under the NDE’s Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (B-NOAS) and Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS).
He explained that the participants, to be drawn from the 27 local government areas of the state, would receive five months training between August and December.
The coordinator said 120 of the youth would be trained in cellphone repairs, motorcycle repairs, interlock making and satellite installation under the B-NOAS in Dutse.
According to him, 50 others will receive training in landscaping and interlocking under the EBTS in Kazaure, Hadejia, Birnin Kudu and Dutse local government areas.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
Sambo said the scheme was part of NDE’s efforts to reduce the level of unemployment among youths in the state.
He added that it was also to equip the beneficiaries with marketable skills and make them self reliant and useful to themselves and the society.
The coordinator noted that poverty and joblessness had been shattering the aspirations of youth and make them easy prey and tools of destabilisation.
Sambo urged youths in the state to enroll for the programme. (NAN)
