Enugu – AVM Idi Amin, the new Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of the Nigerian Air Force Ground Training Command (GTC), Enugu, has urged personnel to ensure professionalism and discipline in the discharge of their duties.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Amin was until his new posting, the Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna.
The new AOC gave the charge to personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in Enugu on Wednesday while taking over the mantle of leadership from AVM Saddiq Kaita.
He noted that contemporary and emerging security challenges facing the nation required utmost loyalty to the constitution and discipline in handling them.
“I will enjoin you, senior officers, officers, airmen and airwomen to be professional when confronted with such challenges and desist from taking sides.
“Discipline is always the bedrock of any fighting force and it must be instilled to the latter,’’ he said.
Amin urged NAF personnel to imbibe the vision of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, to reposition the NAF into a highly-professional and disciplined force through capacity building initiatives.
“This is for effective, efficient and timely employment of air power in response to Nigeria’s national security imperatives as our watchword, ‘’ he said.
Earlier in his remarks, Kaita, urged officers and men of the command to extend their hands of fellowship and co-operation to the new AOC.
He also thanked them for their support while he was heading the command.
NAN reports that Kaita was redeployed to the NDA as the Deputy Commandant. (NAN)
