David said he would achieve this through effective maintenance of law and order before, during and after the forthcoming elections.
He said this while addressing newsmen in Gusau.
He said the core duties of police are: prevention of crimes; protection of lives and property; enforcement of laws as well as maintenance of law and order.
“For democracy to be fully enjoyed by any country, there must be peaceful election environment for the electorate to be able to exercise their fundamental human rights.
“We will advise political parties to tell their party supporters to eschew all forms of violence and respect the rule of law because we will not take it lightly with any violator.
“If violation is found to be associated with any political party, the party will be held responsible.
