The Nigeria Football Federation [NFF] has decided to lift the lengthy suspensions on a handful of football persons including Olaleye Adepoju and Victor Rumson Baribote.
Olaleye returns to the saddle as the Oyo State Football Association chairman.
“I am happy to be back in football after a while. It’s a case of vindication for me and that’s all I’ll say,” said Adepoju to supersport.com.
Baribote’s suspension was also lifted, but “does not restore him to his former position of Chairmanship of NPL [NPFL],” according to the NFF.
Others who have had their bans quashed are Jarrett Tenebe, Olajide Fashikun and Chidi Ofor Okenwa.
But former NFF secretary general, Taiwo Ogunjobi, is yet to be cleared as he has been told to withdraw his case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport [Cas].
“After exhaustive deliberations, the Committee unanimously decided to lift bans of various lengths placed on the following members of Nigeria football family: Chief Rumson Baribote, Barrister Olaleye Adepoju, Mr Jarrett Tenebe and Mr Olajide Fashikun. The ban on former Member of NFF Executive Committee, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi will be lifted once communication is received from the Court of Arbitration for Sport that he has withdrawn his case. Other banned persons will have their cases reviewed as soon as they appear before the Committee.[eap_ad_2]
“Following from the above, Barrister Olaleye Adepoju will, with immediate effect, retake the Chairmanship of Oyo State Football Association and his seat on the Executive Committee of Nigeria Football Federation. Also, Mr Chidi Ofor Okenwa retakes his seat as Chairman of Enugu State Football Association.
“However, the lifting of ban placed on Chief Rumson Baribote is as far as football–related activities are concerned, and does not restore him to his former position of Chairmanship of NPL,” the NFF stated.
But the NFF executive committee insisted on the suspensions placed on Chris Green and Ahmed Yusuf ‘Fresh’ while it cleared Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande of any “allegation of anti-board activities.”
The re-affirmed suspensions on Green and Yusuf are still provisional until the NFF general assembly ratifies or rejects the decisions.
“After thorough investigation, a Member of the Executive Committee, Hon. Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande was found not culpable and was therefore cleared of allegation of anti-Board activities. The Committee re-affirmed suspension from the Executive Committee and bans of six months and one year from all football–related activities placed on former Members of the Committee, Barr. Chris Green and Alh. Ahmed Yusuf ‘Fresh’ respectively, pending the ratification of the General Assembly,” the NFF stated. (supersport.com)[eap_ad_3]
