Niger Delta affairs minister assumes duty

ABUJA – Dr Steve Oru, the new Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, assumed duty on Thursday.
Oru arrived at the Federal Secretariat Phase 1, headquarters of the ministry at about 11a.m.

He was received by the supervising minister, who is the Minister of State in the ministry, Mr Darius Ishaku; the Permanent Secretary, Mr Mohammed Bashar, as well as directors and other senior staff members.

The new minister thanked management and staff of the ministry for the reception and solicited their cooperation to move the ministry forward.

Earlier, Ishaku applauded the management and the entire staff for their cooperation.

He told the new minister that funding had posed a major challenge to the development of infrastructure in the Niger Delta region.

Until his appointment, Oru was the South-South Zonal Chairman of the PDP. (NAN)
