National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Michael Olukoya, has explained that the World Teachers Day celebration that was suppose to hold on Sunday, October 5, could not take place in view of the dread Ebola virus bedevilling the country and other countries. [eap_ad_1] Olukoya, while speaking in a telephone interview with Daily Independent, said the decision is in line with the directive of Education International, stressing that one could have been done in Kenya but because of the Ebola menace, it was suspended.
“Teachers World Day Celebration could not take place this year in view of the health challenges we have in our schools and it is in line with directive of Education International. We are supposed to have done one in Kenya but because of the Ebola menace, we have to get it suspended,” he said.
