Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered Senator Abaribe and two others standing sureties for Nnamdi Kanu to forfeit (interim) the N300 million bail bonds following their failure to produce him in court on Tuesday.
This order was given by Justice Binta Nyako, stating that the money be deposited in the court’s bank account before the next adjourned date on March 28, 2019.
The judge in her ruling stated that the sureties: Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe; a Jewish priest, Immanuel Shalom, and an Abuja-based accountant, Tochukwu Uchendu, would be given six months to argue their applications challenging the forfeiture.
Recall that Abaribe, Immanuel and Tochukwu are standing sureties for the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who is facing trial for alleged treasonable felony case brought against him by the Federal Government.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who was on bail disappeared shortly after the military exercise code named “Operation Python Dance”, allegedly invaded Afara Ukwu country home of the IPOB leader.
However, following a video which trended on social media penultimate week purporting to have captured Nnamdi Kanu praying in the holy land of Israel, counsel to Senator Abaribe, Chukwuma Nwachukwuma (SAN) has written to the government of Israel requesting her confirmation that the missing IPOB leader is in Israel.
