SEOUL – Blaming a series of “provocations” by the South Korean navy, North Korea threatened on Friday to attack South Korean warships, news reports said.

The North’s Korean Central News Agency made this known in a statement in Seoul.
It said that Pyongyang warned of a strike without any prior warning at any warship of the South Korean Navy.
The news agency stated that South Korean speedboats had entered North Korea’s territorial waters two or three times a day for the past week.
Report says incursions along the two Koreas’ maritime border are a frequent source of tension between the two neighbours.
It added that that the two countries were still officially at war since the Korean War ended in a ceasefire rather than a peace agreement in 1953. (dpa/NAN)
