LAGOS (Sundiata Post) – Ms Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, hugely respected promoter of entertainment industry in Nigeria and the CEO of the prestigious African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), is dead.
Though her family is yet to comment on the issue, a report Monday night by Precious Eze’s Blog quoted noted Nollywood filmmaker, Zik Zulu Okafor as confirming it.
Besides, “Award winning producer, Obi Emelonye had written on his Socials about her demise, even though the family was trying to be courteous with releasing the information.”
The blog said it learnt that Ms Anyiam-Osigwe “was in coma at St. Nicolas Hospital (Lagos) before she succumbed to death.”
It noted that she “would be remembered as one of those who shaped the face of the new Nollywood, as her contributions to the industry cannot be overemphasised.”
A source close to the family told Sundiata Post on Tuesday morning that the late AMAA CEO was admitted to St. Nicholas Hospital on Saturday before she died on Monday night. The source noted she had been battling illness for several years though most people were not aware of it, adding that the late Peace Anyiam-Osigwe also had skin cancer. The source, a former employee of AMAA, said she had been to India in search of treatment
Peace Anyiam-Osigwe was also the President of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP).
