The Paints Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (PMA) will hold the fifth edition of its bi-annual Raw Materials, Equipment and Paints exhibition tagged PMA NIGERIA 2017 COATINGS SHOW from Monday, October 23 to Tuesday, October 24, 2017.
According to information released at a press interactive session recently in Ogba Lagos, the event will hold at the Sheba Centre, 20 Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.
Said Remi Aluko, the Association’s chairman: “The two-day event is intended to show-case the various raw materials, machinery, production and testing equipment as well as packaging materials used in the production of paints, inks and allied products. Made in Nigeria paint products will also be on display. It will provide a platform for manufacturers/suppliers of paints raw materials/equipment and packaging materials and also for manufacturers of paints, inks and allied products in Nigeria to exchange ideas on current developments on raw materials, equipment and technology for paint manufacturing.”
Since the inception of the show in 2006, it has been growing in participation and attendance, getting better, bigger and more rewarding to both exhibitors and paint manufacturers in Nigeria.
He said the theme for this year’s Show is “Raw Materials Sourcing For The Coatings Industry” and that the Guest Speaker will be the Director General/Chief Executive of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council(RMRDC) Dr. H.B. Ibrahim, who will deliver a paper on the theme on the first day.
He added: “The Lagos State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Commerce Prince Rotimi Ogunleye will be the Special Guest. He will flag off the event. Other guests expected to grace the occasion include the Director General/Chief Executive of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Bar. Osita Anthony Aboloma, the Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria(MAN) Mr Segun Ajayi-Kadir, representatives of the Nigerian Institute of Architects, Nigerian Institute of builders, Association of Housing Corporations of Nigeria, Real Estate developers and a host of others.”
According to Aluko, one of the major challenges faced by members of the Association in the last two years was the scarcity/ high cost of raw materials majority of which is not available locally and are imported. “The theme was therefore, chosen based on this and the importance the Federal Government attaches to local sourcing/development of raw materials for industry.”
There will b s/dealers, painters/applicators, students who wish to take up careers in the paint industry and the general public.e other speakers who will deliver papers at the conference section of the event on various issues on paint raw materials, equipment, technology and marketing, he said.
Regarding those expected at the fair, Aluko said exhibitors for the show will come from different parts of the world including the United Kingdom, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, South Africa, India, Korea, Middle East, China, Turkey, Singapore and Nigeria.
