Pankshin residents, INEC express readiness for Saturday’s polls

PANSKHIN (PLATEAU) – The people of Pankshin Local Government in Plateau and INEC officials on Friday expressed their readiness for Saturday’s Governorship and Houses of Assembly elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a cross section of the residents of the area and INEC officials said, “we are very much ready to participate in tomorrow’s elections“.

Mr Olatunji Alabi, Pankshin Electoral Officer, told NAN that “we are fully prepared and ready for the elections’’.

“As you can see, our vehicles are moving INEC staff, the ad-hoc staff as well as the security operatives to the various polling units in the wards in the area.

“This is because most of the sensitive and non sensitive materials have long been distributed to our 136 polling units of the area, “ Alabi said.

He expressed optimism over the success of the elections.

Mr Joel Gongni, a civil servant, who came all the way from Kano to cast his vote, told NAN that the elections were crucial to him.

“I am so armed with my PVC for this election and so are my family members ready to cast our votes to candidates of our choices, “ he said.

Also speaking, Mrs Helen Putkat said she and her family members were ready for the elections, adding the exercise was “very vital“ to the people.

The council Chairman, Mr Samuel Goar, told NAN that the people of Pankshin were ready for the elections.

According to him, all security arrangements have been made for the smooth, peaceful and successful conduct of the elections.

“As a council, we have deployed all security operatives to all the various polling units for the smooth, peaceful and successful conduct of the polls in Pankshin, ‘’ Goar said.

NAN reports that many residents are seen at the Panskhin Park returning from far places to partake in Saturday’s polls. (NAN)
