PDP done enough for women to deserve mandate, says First Lady.

BAUCHI – First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, said in Bauchi on Friday that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had done enough for women to deserve their mandate in forthcoming elections.

Represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Amina Sambo, the First Lady said at a rally organized by women that most of the projects undertaken by the PDP-led administration, touched on the lives of women.

She listed the projects to include roads, revitalization of the Railway transportation system, provision of  health facilities and drugs, among others, all of which had direct bearing on women and children in the country.

“Part of the commitments expressed by this administration under the PDP, is ensuring health of  women, just as I have now inaugurated a health facility, built for women and children in this state, ’’she said.

She therefore urged women to reward the present administration for the good work, by voting the PDP at all levels in the forthcoming general elections.

In his remarks, Bauchi State Governor, Malam Isa Yuguda, thanked women in the state for their support to the present administration, and urged them not to relent in their efforts.

In her speech, wife of the State Governor, Hajiya Aisha Yuguda, urged women to ensure that they collected their permanent voters’ card, to enable them elect candidates fielded by the PDP.

Women Leader of PDP in the state, Hajiya Asabe Tirwun, pledged that women in the state were ready to come out en-mass to elect PDP candidates.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that earlier, the wife of the Vice president had inaugurated a health facility in Bauchi, established by the state government, to carter for women and children.

Over 2,000 women groups from the 20 local government areas of the state attended the rally.(NAN)
