The Plateau State Peace Building Agency has met with local and Fulani community leaders to mitigate the risk of reprisals following Tuesday’s attack in Meyango village of Bassa Local Government Area, which left about three people dead.
The meeting which was at the instance of the State Governor, Simon Lalong also aimed to de-escalate tensions arising from the attack, Director General of the Agency, Joseph Lengmang said.
In a press statement on Wednesday, Mr. Lengmang said the meeting is one among series of scheduled meetings targeting peaceful resolution of disputes in the State.
The agency’s boss however wants “social media enthusiasts” to refrain from spreading incisive messages and pictures to help safeguard peace in the State.
