Police arraign 2 labourers for allegedly constituting public nuisance

ABUJA – A Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday granted bail to labourers-  Abubakar Ibrahim, 24 and Abdullahi Mohammed, 25, accused of causing public nuisance.

Presiding Judge Hassan Ishaq, granted them bail in the sum of N10,000 each and surety each in like sum.

He also said the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and must have a known address.

The prosecutor, Insp. Philips Akogwu, had told the court that the accused persons committed the offence at 9p.m. on March 25.

According to Akogwu, a of policemen attached to Asokoro Police Station, led by ASP Abdullahi Adamu while on patrol within Asokoro District Area arrested the accused persons.

He said the accused persons were caught constituting public nuisance, and during investigation, they could give satisfactory account of themselves.

Akogwu said the offence contravened Section 199 of the Penal Code.

The accused persons, however, denied committing the offence.

The case adjourned till April 29 for further hearing. (NAN)
