Kaduna – The Kaduna State Police Command, on Thursday said that it arrested 34 suspects and recovered 420 livestock from cattle rustlers in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Agyole Abeh who made the disclosure at a news briefing in Kaduna, said that the suspects were arrested for various crimes.
Abeh listed the crimes as armed robbery, cattle rustling, Kidnapping, drugs dealing, rape, sodomy, gangsterism among others.
According to him, the recovered 420 livestock were handed over to the state government security outfit, Operation Yaki, for onward return to their rightful owners.
“We recovered seven locally made AK-47, one barrette, one locally made pistol with magazine and many live ammunitions.
“Also we recovered 18 MTN battery mask, seven bags of Indian hemp, and many wraps.’’
He said that investigation was ongoing and the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.
The commissioner said the command would embark on new operation known as “Operation Restore Hope in Kaduna’’.
“We have constituted a formidable team to crack down crime and criminality in the state,’’ he added.
Abeh said the security operations in Southern Kaduna had restored calm to the area, and assured that the command was committed to protecting lives and property of citizens.
