Sokoto – Mr Salish Fagge, the Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State, on Wednesday urged members of the Barewa College Old Boys Association (BOBA), to contribute to the development of their alma mater.
Fagge, a former student of the school, said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that such intervention was necessary to maintain the excellent standard set by the college.
“It is true that Barewa College, Zaria has produced two former Heads of State, governors, ministers, members of National and State Houses Assemblies and many prominent Nigerians in all spheres of human endeavour.
“So, the onus is on the old boys not to abandon their alma mater but to contribute towards improving infrastructure in the college,” he added.
The police commissioner assured that the 1971 set of the college would meet on May 28, discuss ways of enhancing learning condition through provision of relevant facilities to the college.
He stressed that BOBA should help in renovating classrooms, library, hostels and the school’s clinic as well as some of the needs of the college staff members.
Fagge acknowledged the contributions of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar 111, towards improving the college’s infrastructure.(NAN)
