Lagos – The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Thursday urged all its zones to round up their selection processes for men and officers for the forthcoming Police Games.
The Games are scheduled to hold from March 14 to March 27 at the National Stadium, Abuja.
Anderson Bankole, the NPF Sports Secretary-General, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone that although some zones had completed and forwarded their lists, others were still pending.
“We are yet to receive lists from some zones and I hereby urge them to send the lists in. Early presentation will aid the committee to plan adequately,’’ he said.
According to Bankole, early presentation of their representatives will enable the force to provide required logistics for the Games.
NAN reports that 12 zones and the force Headquarters are expected to feature in the Games.
The secretary said that the Games would kick off on March 14 with teams’ elimination.
“Sports for teams’ elimination are rugby, tug of war, volleyball, football, handball, basketball and hockey.
“Twenty six of the 28 events for the Games have both male and female participants, while only hockey and rugby have male participants.
“The event proper will commence on March 18,’’ he said

Other events for the Games are athletics, badminton, boxing, chess, dart, golf, squash, kickboxing, swimming, tennis, table tennis, taekwondo, karate, judo, wrestling, weightlifting, scrabble, wushu kungfu, cycling and shooting. (NAN)
