Enugu – The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State Command, Mr Mohammed Danmallam, says the command will continue to partner with technology-driven groups and other relevant organisations to ensure a safe and crime-free state.
Danmallam gave the assurance on Friday when officials of a technological-driven group, INGSOC International Ltd, paid him a courtesy call in Enugu on Friday.
The commissioner said that group’s programmes were laudable, adding that they were fully connected to crime prevention and detection.
According to him, the partnership and support for the group also becomes necessary for the attainment of peace and order in the various communities in this state.
“We shall continue to partner with your group for a safe and secured Enugu,’’ Danmallam said.
Earlier, the leader of the group, Henry Nna, said the group was saddled with the responsibility of preventing farmers/herders clashes and check multiple animal taxation.
Nna, who is also the Managing Director of the group, said the group was executing the task through technological-devices.
“Our key areas of crime prevention include curtailing of farmers/herders clashes to be actualised by initiating relevant data-base for all animals/owners and the use of cutting edge technology of micro-chips.
‘’The micro-chip will be attached to every registered and captured animal,’’ he said.
According to him, this will enable the easy discovery of rustled cows and their owners as well as any cattle suspected to have caused any farm destruction and its owners, for necessary action.
“We also engage in prevention of multiple taxation and cattle rustling through modern technology as well.’’
He further informed the commissioner that there was an on-going establishment of electronic gate at all control posts, adding that the firm had started building such posts across all states in the country.
“This will enable us, the police, government agencies and state governments to have access to all animal movement electronically within their jurisdiction.’’ (NAN)
