KANO – An Independent Petroleum Marketer in Kano, Alhaji Auwalu Rano, has directed all his 135 AA RANO filling stations in parts of the country to dispense fuel at N95 per litre.Rano, who gave the directive in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Wednesday, said that the gesture would cover the month of Ramadan.
He said the decision was to also heed to calls by Islamic scholars in the country on traders to reduce their prices to alleviate the sufferings of the poor.
“I felt it necessary to follow suit in order to be part of those who will earn the blessings of God during this Holy month.
“Even though some people may consider two naira as too small, but it is something to many others,’’ he said.
He, however, urged businessmen and women to reduce the prices of their products, particularly foodstuff and other essential items during the Ramadan period.
Since the commencement of Ramadan fast, Islamic scholars had been urging traders to reduce their prices to make life meaningful for the citizenry.
They also urged well-meaning individuals to assist the less-privileged persons during this month. (NAN)
