Awka – The Raw Material Research and Development Council has called for more synergy between the federal and state governments to boost the industrial sector.

The Coordinator of the agency in Anambra, Mr Chijioke Okechukwu, who made the call during a visit to Deputy Gov. Nkem Okeke in Awka on Monday, said that such synergy would ensure the use of raw materials to revitalise the industrial sector.

“Nigeria is blessed with these raw materials. Through the joint venture project in the state, the agency will produce the technical know-how and machines while the Anambra government provides the infrastructure.

“The council will in another programme implement the building of three small scale industries in the three senatorial zones in the state to boost its economic growth,’’ he said.

Responding, Okeke said that the government was aware of the procurement of equipment for the industries by the Federal Government.

He expressed the willingness of the Anambra government to partner with the agency as the project would create the opportunity for more jobs.

“The project is a welcome development for which Gov. Willie Obiano has approved the funding. What is remaining is for the machines to be installed and test-run for effective use,’’ he said. (NAN)
