Moscow – Russia’s military will conduct airstrikes on Aleppo in the most active way possible to help the Syrian army defend the area against terrorists, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday.
“We have warned the Americans about what is currently happening in and around Aleppo,” Lavrov tells a press conference in Moscow.
“The Americans know that we will support the Syrian army from the air in the most active way possible to not allow terrorists to take this territory.
“The U.S. is not fulfilling its obligations to separate loyal opposition groups from positions of al-Nusra Front,” Lavrov says, referring to the Syrian al-Qaeda affiliate.
“Unable to do this, the Americans are saying that the positions of good and bad opposition groups are intermixed, and they are asking us and the Syrian leadership to hold off on airstrikes,’’ he said. (dpa/NAN)
