Abuja – Mr Kayode Olumoko, the Chief Executive Officer of Sound Factory Entertainment (SFE), says all is set for a music tour of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and environs by his artists, to enhance their fan base.
Olumoko made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
The SFE boss said the three artists on its label; Chanter, Sidney and Victor-Velmo would be on tour to different areas in the nation’s capital and environs before embarking on a national radio tour.
“We are set to start a monthly Sound Factory tour in Abuja and the suburbs like Nyanya, Mararaba, Mpape, Gwagwalada, Lugbe, etc to engage these artists with their fans and create the necessary hype.
“We will first of all tidy up the FCT and suburbs tour before embarking on the nationwide radio tour which will start in April this year.
“And on the process of the nationwide radio tour, we will be shooting videos for the artists and then get them to be on the necessary channels for viewing.
“Our target is that by the end of this year, we would be able to have them in one or two nominations and probably win an award.
“The fundamental thing is that, it has to start from the fan base, that is Abuja all the way to Lagos,’’ Olumoko stressed.
He said that Abuja populace were fun loving people but added that it was regrettable that music artists from Lagos always dominate entertainment shows in Abuja.
He noted that this happened because most of the artists go to Lagos “where the `bread’ is and corporate organisations that give endorsements to artists and all that.’’
Olumoko however noted that the Abuja music industry was blessed with talents and that for it to record remarkable progress; the business hub in Abuja has to embrace Abuja artists.
He reiterated that there was the need to create an opportunity where Abuja based artists could have endorsements from corporate bodies in the nation’s capital.
“We need to have opportunity where Abuja artist will be brand ambassador for an indigenous company in Abuja; there is also the need to invest in building excellent video and audio studios.
“This is because, at the moment, if you want to shoot an excellent video, you have to go to Lagos and music for me is a moral law.
“Nevertheless, it is important that whenever you are doing something with music, you have to understand it and our understanding is that Abuja is viable and will pick up gradually,’’ Olumoko said. (NAN)
