Kano (Kano State) – Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV) on Thursday in Kano defeated Correspondents Chapel 2-1 at the 2015 Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) football tournament.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the tournament, organised by the Kano chapter of SWAN, is used to celebrate the annual sports writers’ week in the state.
Musa Kazu of Daily Trust opened the scoring for the correspondents chapel in the 8th minute with a solo effort before Ali Sadik of ARTV scored twice in the 18th and 48th minutes respectively.
The double strike from Sadik took the encounter beyond reach as all efforts made by the hard-fighting football correspondents chapel players to equalise proved abortive.
The introduction of two strikers in a row by the correspondents technical crew also failed to yield result as the ARTV defenders lived up to the expectation.
In the other match, Rahama Radio overpowered AIT/Raypower by a lone goal.
The only goal of the game was scored by Ali Rabiu in the 23rd minute after connecting a cross from a teammate via a powerful header.
