Taraba Assembly Adopts Report On Anti Open Grazing Bill, Gives 6 Months Grace for Implementation

Abuja (Sundiata Post) –  The Taraba State House of Assembly made giant moves to implement the anti open grazing bill when its Ad-hoc committee on the Taraba State Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Bill 2017  presented its report.
The report, which was on Wednesday laid on the floor of the house,  was unanimously adopted by the house.
A motion to   house dissolve into the committee of the whole was moved by the majority leader of the house Hon. Joseph Ari and was seconded by Hon. Josiah  Albasu Kunini
Kunini is representing Lau state constituency  Aji represents Wukari 1 state constituency.
Speaking while laying the report on  floor of the house , the chairman of the  ad-hoc committee , Hon. Dr. Mark Useni sought a  resolution of the members to prevail on the executive arm to give six months grace before  implementation of the law for proper awareness of the bill.
He, on behalf of the other members of the committee appreciated, the house and the people of the state for the confidence reposed on them by allowing them to carry out such a crucial assignment for the state.
The committee chairman however  emphasized that throughout the public hearing on the bill, which was carried out throughout the three senatorial zones, it was proven that there was no wrong impression on the bill among those that submitted their memorandum.
He also informed the house that those opposed to the bill were doing so out of limited information and knowledge.
He said, “The fact of the matter is that there has been heighten ignorance, misconceptions and total lack of understanding of the bill and effect of the law when it comes into force”.
During deliberations on the bill on the floor of the house three members out of twenty three, nsmrly, Hon. Nuru Dantsoho , representing Jalingo 1, Hon Saleh  Sa’ad Jalingo 11 and Hon. Bashir Muhammed representing Ngorje state constituencies were opposed to the bill.
After exhaustive deliberations the speaker Hon Peter Abel Diah put a voice vote for the adoption of the report of the committee and the response was unanimously for the bill.
The speaker commended the members of the committee for a thorough job , he also thanked the members for supporting the bill to end the chaos in the state.
The ad-hoc committee had earlier conducted public hearing on  the bill across the three senatorial districts of the state and collected 98 oral and written memoranda from individuals, groups, organizations and government agencies.
