Lagos – The coach of Lagos State Para-soccer team, Femi Afolanyan on Monday said that preparations were in top gear to ensure a good outing at the forthcoming National Para-soccer Polio Championship.
The championship is scheduled to run from Oct. 19 to Oct. 24 in Abuja.
Afolanyan told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at a training session held at the National Stadium, Lagos that the players were training twice a week to enhance their performance.
“My players are in high spirit for the championship and they are also responding well in each training session.
“Our target is to excel and we are not expecting anything less,” he said.

The coach added that the state league had also helped them in preparing the team for the event.
He, however, appealed for assistance from private bodies and philanthropists to alleviate some of the difficulties faced by the physically challenged players.
Not less than 16 states will participate at the championship, organised annually by the Nigeria Para-soccer Federation to mark the World Polio Day. (NAN)
